PRE-PET CONSULTATIONS

If you are considering adding a cat or dog to your family, we would love to talk with you! We can address questions about the health and temperament of specific breeds, how to introduce a new cat or dog to existing pets or children, discuss what kind of pet will best suit your life-style and help you to have realistic expectations about the amount of time and money a new pet will require.

CARING FOR YOUR PUPPY OR KITTEN

Most puppies and kittens will need a series of three visits at 3-4 week intervals between the ages of 2 and 4 months. During these visits we will not only perform a complete physical exam and administer necessary vaccinations, but will also discuss training and behavior issues as well as breed specific health, behavior and grooming topics. We believe that seeing your puppy or kitten in his or her home environment is the best way to help you identify and correct concerns with housebreaking, litterbox training, crate training, chewing and scratching before they become more serious issues.

CARING FOR YOUR HEALTHY PET

We are excited about working with you to create a custom-tailored healthcare plan for your pet. We believe that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” and are dedicated to helping your cat or dog stay healthy with early detection tools like blood tests, annual dental cleanings and complete physical exams. Our passion for service makes scheduling routine care for your pet easy---we can come to your home or office, or you can schedule your pet’s exam in conjunction with their visit to the groomer’s, doggie daycare or a boarding facility. You don’t even need to be present for our visit; we will follow-up with you in detail regarding our findings and recommendations.

CARING FOR YOUR SICK PET

Dr. Williams became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners because she wanted to provide the best care that she could to her patients. Caravan Vet was born of the same desire. Most sick pets can be treated in the comfort of their own home, where we can perform laboratory tests, take x-rays and perform treatments without the stress of a trip to a clinic. For situations when pets require advanced diagnostics, intensive hospitalization or emergency care, we have a close working relationship with Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners, a specialty clinic which provides advanced care 24 hours a day.

SURGERY AND ANESTHESIA

Our mobile clinic is fully equipped with state of the art surgical and anesthetic capabilities. We can perform spays, neuters, mass removals and many other soft-tissue procedures. Every anesthetized pet has pre-anesthetic lab testing and a complete physical exam to maximize safety under anesthesia. We place intravenous catheters in every patient and provide IV fluid support to each pet. While your pet is anesthetized they will be continuously observed and cared for by a Certified Veterinary Technician. In addition, our automated anesthetic monitor provides constant feedback on your pet’s blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, heart rhythm, blood oxygen saturation levels and exhaled (end-tidal) carbon dioxide levels. Your pet will be closely monitored after surgery and will be able to return home at the end of the day.

DENTISTRY

We are particularly passionate about oral health because so many pets suffer in silence with significant but treatable dental disease. Dogs and cats are very stoic about mouth pain. Because 60% of dental pathology can occur below the gum-line, it is impossible to really know what is going on in your pet’s mouth without a thorough oral exam and dental x-rays. Dr. Williams has completed over 100 hours of post-graduate training in dentistry and is able to perform surgical extractions, vital pulpotomies and root canal therapy. She designed and teaches the Advanced Dentistry course for Veterinary Technology students at the Minnesota School of Business and regularly consults with other veterinarians about their dental cases. Michele has also pursued post-graduate training in dentistry and has a special love for teeth. We have repeatedly seen that correcting dental disease not only adds years to a pet’s life, but also vastly improves the quality of that life. Our goal is to help keep your pet’s mouth as healthy and comfortable as possible.

HOSPICE AND END OF LIFE CARE

Helping you to care for your sick or aging pet is one of the most rewarding parts of our job. In many cases even terminally ill patients can receive palliative care at home resulting in additional quality days, weeks or months. We will work closely with you to understand exactly what “quality of life” means for you and your pet. Making the decision to euthanize a pet is a highly personal one; our goal is to support and guide you through that process. We provide at-home euthanasia services for our clients or by referral from another veterinarian, and make all cremation arrangements afterward.
